Your Trainer

My name is Michelle Gray and I own 2 dogs myself at present - Oscar is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Lucky is a Staff/English BT cross. Both are rescue dogs and have been with us since they were puppies.

My involvement with dogs began when I was young as my family have had dogs for as long as I can remember! We have had many different breeds and my parents even spent some time racing and breeding greyhounds for a while. Since I have been an adult with a family of my own I have kept (and bred) Yorkshire Terriers and as my children have now all grown up we have had pets of many kinds. I keep birds, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, and have kept gerbils and hamsters. I started out as many people do, knowing a bit about each one but I made it my business to learn as much as I could about them, their needs and the best ways to keep them happy and contented.

Joining Knebworth Dog Training Club in 2001 as Treasurer enthused my interest and I learned as much as I could from watching others, eventually going on a course to become a Trainer with the ADTB (Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour) in Feb 03. In time it became obvious that certain needs of dogs and owners were not being met to my personal standards and my training methods were not appreciated by the Obedience and Competition clan! I decided that I would give the public a chance to decide for themselves and thereby Kellen Dog Training Club was conceived.

My daughters Caroline and Kelsey are a great assett to Kellen DTC and assist with classes and equipment where required. They have both become trainers since we opened and Callie takes classes within club whereas Kelsey still assists with equipment and needs time for her confidence to build before she is able to takes classes in the future!

My time is now devoted to finding out as much as I can whilst staying open to new ideas and methods of training. I am still learning all the time.

I now have to take a back seat as far as training is concerned as I can no longer walk confidently on the training floor without assistance owing to my disability.

My thanks go to my family and friends for giving me the confidence to believe in myself and what we have to offer as a Training Club. I do this for you and for all the dogs and owners out there who get a raw deal!
